azh
(assisted zona
hatching)

This procedure consists of producing a small aperture in the pellucid zone of the embryos immediately before to their hatching. The pellucid zone is a protective membrane that physiologically covers the oocyte and embryo until implantation. AZH is a laboratory method used, when considered necessary, to facilitate the release of the blastocytes from the pellucid zone, to come into direct contact with the mother’s uterus.
